About
I'm Sen Yao. I work in data science, spending most of my time on problems in clinical research and computational biology — the kind of work that lives at the boundary between data science, statistics and biology, where the messiness of real data meets the precision you actually need to draw conclusions.
My day-to-day involves a lot of Python, some machine learning, and a fair amount of building data science prodocts and apps lately. I've spent time working with genomic data, biomarkers, and standardized EHR and clinical trial data.
Outside of work, I like gardening (a covid hobby), and lately reading fantasy books. A nice break from having to stare at a screen all day.
I started this site because I kept writing things down in notebooks that no one ever read, including me. Putting them here creates at least a mild incentive to make them legible.
